Laibach MP3 files*

The music of Laibach's is a very rich and rewarding experience and highly recommended for those seeking sanctuary from the increasingly bland and uninspiring music enforced on the current music scene. Laibach draw their inspirations from a vast source and deep knowledge of history, politics and art, harnessing the simmering energy from Balkans that often erupts explosively. Laibach's music has a strongly distinctive sound that is recognisable whatever style of music they playing. It may be techno, classical, pop, rock, heavy metal or even rap. It is delivered in their trademark strong bombastic military sound and rarely fails to make an instant and lasting impression.

Drzava - 1437kb
The best track from Nova Akropola, forceful rhythmatic music driven by horns building towards the sampled speech from Tito.

Album: Nova Akropola - Cherry Red, 1985
Available at amazon [.CO.UK] & [COM]

Life Is Life - 983kb
A definite favourite with Laibach fans, although a cover of the cheerful holiday song Live is Life remade into a glorious totalitarian anthem.

Geburt Einer Nation - 1116kb
The rather bland Queen song One Vision is excellently transformed into a brutal but pomp marching song.

Album: Opus Dei - Mute, 1987
Available at amazon [.CO.UK] & [COM]

Single: Geburt Einer Nation - Mute, 1987
Single: Life Is Life - Mute, 1987
Sympathy for the Devil - 1718kb
The Rolling Stones' song transformed into a powerful dark anthem delivered with bone crushing percussion and Milan's distinctive booming voice accompanying the militant orchestral music made this a favourite at concerts.

Album: Sympathy for the Devil - Mute, 1988
Available at amazon [CO.UK] & [COM]

Two of us - 748kb
A great marching song, totally transformed from the Beatles' original track. Militant orchestration, vocals leaning toward an operatic style accompanied by a strong military marching beat; sounds as if it should be a song about soldiers returning from war.

Across the Universe - 740kb
Very sugary sweet, even much more so than the Beatles' original version. There is very little recognisable input from Laibach. Vocals from Anja Rupel and the Opus Dei choir deliver a pleasant haunting version and quite different from the bulk of Laibach's usual material.

Album: Let it be- Mute, 1988
Available at amazon [CO.UK] & [COM]

Single: Geburt Einer Nation - Mute, 1987
Available at amazon [CO.UK]

Wirtschaft Ist Tot - 2385kb
Seven minutes of heavily programmed drums, loaded with samples and the lyrics chanted, all mixed into a complex structure makes this one of Laibach's more intriguing singles.

Album: Kapital - Mute, 1992
Available at amazon [CO.UK] & [COM]

Single: Wirtschaft Ist Tot - Mute, 1987

Final Countdown - 1379kb
Laibach presents their brilliant militant techno version of Europe's biggest hit, enhanced further by good use of samples and choral singing.

Album: NATO - Mute, 1994
Available at amazon [CO.UK] & [COM]

Single: Final Countdown - Mute, 1987
Available at amazon [CO.UK]

God Is God - 976kb
Heavy metal guitars mixed with Laibach's usual percussion and delivery with some choral singing thrown in.

Album: Jesus Christ Superstars - Mute, 1996
Available at amazon [CO.UK] & [COM]

Single: Jesus Christ Superstar / God is God - Mute, 1996
Available at amazon [CO.UK]
